Self Service Smart Signals Overview

Overview

Self Service Smart Signals allows Infer users to append company data from Infer's data sources directly onto records in their Salesforce instance.  There are 430 firmographic and technographic datapoints available.  A full list of signals can be found here.  Signals can be published to the Account, Lead, Contact, and Opportunity objects by publishing a smart signal in your Infer Portal.  Learn how to publish a signal here.

Salesforce API Usage

Self Service Smart Signals updates records using Salesforce SOAP API in batch calls of 200.  This means that for every 200 records set to update Infer will use 1 API call.  Infer will update all fields for the record in 1 call.

Typically, Self Service Smart Signals doesn't have a large impact on a Salesforce org's API limits, however backfilling signals or performing bulk imports can cause a spike in API usage.

Best Practices

  • Since Self Service Smart Signals overwrites data in mapped fields it is strongly encouraged to create new fields and map the Smart Signal to that new field.
  • Before publishing a smart signal check automation (validations, workflows, APEX, etc) on the Salesforce object you are publishing to to ensure Smart Signals won't cause conflicts.
